Yes, it means 'for the time being', 'right now', 'for the moment'.

Resulta difícil encontrar una frase igual a la expresión en cuestión. Yo también me quedo en blanco.

See you later, alligator es una rima que se suele usar con los niños (y estudiantes, me imagino).
