Perder la vergüenza

Cómo es perder la vergüenza en esta frase:

Para aprender a hablar bien un idioma tienes que perder la vergüenza y lanzarte a hablar.

To learn to speak well a language you have to loose........ and start talking.

"To lose the shame" maybe.

Side note for learners: "perder la vergüenza" is often used to say that someone has lost all kind of consideration for others and does things in a brazen way, or that he/she has lost respect for him/herself.

¨Lose your inhibitions¨ (or even better, ¨overcome your inhibitions¨), deshacerse de inhibiciones restringidas. No cohibirse.

I'm quite agree with you.

To learning a new language you need to loss the shiny, and you must start to speak with someone in English.

That's attempt.

To learn to speak a language well, you need to overcome your fears and just start speaking.
... you need to toss your fears aside and jump right in.
... you need to toss your fears aside and get right to it.

If you want to us idiomatic English, one way of saying this is:
Toss caution to the wind, and face the music.

Personally, I think in this context, la vergüenza is best translated as shyness. As a very shy person myself, this is exactly what I try to overcome to speak a language I am learning.
