silla -feminine noun (la), chair, seat. Look up silla in the dictionary Las sillas hechas de palma son comunes en las costas de México. Chairs made from palm fronds are common on the coasts of Mexico.

Something my students usually think is quite funny is the fact that you say: to sit on a chair but to sit in an armchair.

Good point Iris, I guess since an armchair (stuffed chair, recliner, "lazy-boy" [a brand name]) is bigger and puffier, you fit in it instead of on it.
