Question split to its own thread.
The hard thing about translating yard, backyard, sideyard, front yard, jardÃn etc, is that most houses in Mexico, Central America, and South America are very different from houses in the US and Canada. Instead of having a house sitting in the middle of an open lot with yard all around it, there is usually a wall around the entire lot, and the house often takes up the entire lot (or most of it), in other words, for many people, no yard exists at all. Since the concepts are so different, a good translation is hard to come by. If there's no need to be specific, you can translate jardÃn as yard/garden etc, but if you need to be really specific, it's better to explain it.

You're right, compraron would be the better choice.

They bought (Ellos compraron) ... and a backyard (y fondo).
I translated fondo as backyard (patio o jardÃn trasero). Perhaps the wrong word was used in the initial post. Although deep is one of the translations of fondo, it doesn't make sense to translate it that way in this sentence, probably just as much as fondo raised questions in the orginal post. I provided a logical translation for a questionable word that I chose not to denounce. |

I will do a bit corrections in your previous post, because you said in your post , they bought a home before, then you need use the pass of the word, I don't know if you can understand me, but I try to explain you the best possible, and I hope you can understand me in everything. The sentence would be translate of this way. Ellos compraron una casa con jardÃn y patio para mi. You have luck, they have bought you a home with garden and a beautiful backyard.
