Here's how I would say it:

I am new to Spanish.
Soy nuevo al español.

You seem like a nice group of people.
Ustedes parecen un agradable grupo de personas.

I hope to learn a lot from you.
Espero aprender mucho de ustedes.

Are you studying Spanish in a class or on your own?
¿Estás aprendiendo el español en un curso o por tu propia cuenta?

On my own from a book. I'm trying to read and watch tv in español. In the book I'm just now getting to conjugating verbs. I was afraid that not putting "yo" on it might be confusing but I guess it would just be confusing to me heh. So far the hard parts for me to understand are the placement of the words. Seems backwards to me but helps me understand why non native speaking people sound like they do when they speak English. Gender and plural things. Would "Holas amigos" been better to say? I sort of understand conjugating verbs but remembering which ending to put on it is quite a task for a new guy.

The correct way to say it is "hola amigos". "Hola" is not an adjective and thus does not agree in gender and number with the noun.

You have your work cut out for you with verb conjugations, gender, and adjective-noun agreement. Those are three areas where Spanish differs a lot from English.

Hola nice to have you in the forums!
Don't worry because the verbs will become less mysterious soon enough, then you'll be fluent in no time!

Hola! Encantado
No te preocupes porque las conjugaciones se pondrán naturales y fáciles a ti, entonces hablarás con mucha confianza
