he has the smile beautiful (I don't know if it's ok in English, but it's the literal translation. The "natural" translation would be he has a beatiful smile = él tiene una sonrisa linda
sure he is beautiful

Better 'handsome' instead of 'beautiful' for a man?

Not really - a man's smile can be beautiful. He has a beautiful smile is my only suggestion. smile beautiful is not English, nor is the beautiful smile.

If a woman says "claro que es lindo" about a man, is it a good thing?

Sure! She's acknowledging that the man is "handsome"....but sometimes a woman might say "él es muy lindo" and not be referring to his looks but to his actions or behavior or simple gestures that make him "lindo".
For example, Mi novio me trajo flores. ¡Es tan lindo! Hope this helps!

Can someone help me understand this conversation.
person 1: el tiene la sonrisa linda. y que es eso atras? se ve lindo person 2: Mi apartamento; claro que es lindo Is person 2 talking about the apartment or the man after "mi apartamento;". The man person 1 mentioned. |

The only way I can understand this conversation is that person 2 is showing some photographs to person 1. The first photo is a boyfriend?, who has a nice/beautiful smile. The photo underneath it is of an apartment. The secondo 'lindo' could be either the man's smile or the apartment, it is ambiguous, although I would guess the apartment because it is nearest.

I've just listened to some of La Traviata, and it has rubbed off. My previous post makes no sense anyway, because the smile is linda, and the apartment is lindo, so the apartment is meant.
