Mostrador

Is this the best word for the counter at an airport where a passenger goes to check in their luggage?
Is mostrador the best word for the counter, similar to a bar, a solitary diner may use for a light meal?

I would use "mostrador" for the counter where you check in your luggage.
But I'd use "barra" for the counter where you eat or drink.
