@Bob: Apart from what other people will add, take a look at my reply in the "recorrer" thread... rules are there.

Both words or letter sound at most like.

But as you have said, you're getting a little confusion in the question.

For example.

Pero sound with simple R.

Perro sound very different with the double RR, there are used twice times the same letter.

Correr, this word sound with the triple RRR C-O-R-R-E-R, please you try to pronoun the word as it said there.

Corre, in this example sound very different to the last word, because only it has couple of RR C-O-R-R-E.

Really I'd like help you with more example, but I believe that you needed to listen to say the word of another people who is Speaker Spanish, therefore I don't believe that it can help you in much.

This "rr" is pronounced at the beginning of a word or a syllable

Traté de escribir un poco para practicar, ¡si puedes corregirme que fuese muy bien!

Siempre estoy perdiéndome la cabeza mientras estoy alrededor los perros rojos porque ellos corren con tal rapidez

Muchas gracias

All "rr" sounds are correct, Bob.

But:

"Si puedes corregirme, será (muy) bueno."

And:

"Perdiendo la cabeza"

¡Muchas gracias!

++¿No es necesario el pronombre (me) en frases así?
Me he roto la pierna

Muchas gracias de nuevo!

Because "romperse" (la pierna) is pronominal:

Me he roto la pierna.

But "perder" (la cabeza) is not

Siempre pierdo la cabeza.

Siempre debes pronunciar the doble erre (rr) en estos tres casos:

1. Cuando hay doble R: carro, correr
2. Cuando una palabra empieza con R: Ricardo, rancho, reno
3. Cuando la R viene después de una L o N: Enrique, alrededor
