Cruce de estocadas
I think it's one way of saying sword fight or crossfire, but I'm not sure

An exchange of blows/thrusts is what I think it means, so crossfire seems to be a good choice, Poli. The sword fight idea might well be understood, since estocadas are blows (thrusts) given with a sword (estoque), and cruce is a crossing (or exchange).

Exchange of blows sounds good. Can you use crossfire when referring to a swordfight? I would only use it when bullets or words are in the air.

The charm of the expression comes from using estocada, usually a bullfighting action, for a fight between 2 people, it entails that both are fighting as hard as you fight a bull.

As already sayed, "estocada" it's a sword, sable or fencing foil movement, and it's when you try to "pierce" your oponent with the peak/point of your weapon.
It's also used in bullfighting, in the final move, when you try to insert the "estoque" in the crux of the bull. "cruce" here means "intecambio" (exchange). So "cruce de estocadas" it's the typicall hollywood duel (See "Scaramouche") when two persons try to insert the other one blocking and trying to pierce. "pequeño cruce de estocadas" it's usually some movements to see the style/knowledge of the opponent Saludos
