Stairs

"All the way up the stairs on the wall there are stains from where the kids have walked up dragging their hands along the wall as they've gone"

"(All the way up) las escaleras en las pardes hay manchas es dondo los niños han subido arrastrando las manos encima de la pared mientras iban"

¿Me podéis corregir la frase y dime cómo se dice "all the way up" No tengo ni idea.?

Gracias

Los niños rastraron sus manos sobre las paredes de la escalera dejando manchas (or suciesa)

One more question regarding this.
I was weighing whether to write las manos instead of sus manos.
Would it have been wrong to write las manos.

No, it would have been perfectly fine to write las manos.

...and even better than "sus manos", since we feel this construction as pleonastic.

I thought I remembered being taught to say las manos in grade school, but real life exposed me to the use of sus manos as well. Thanks, both of you, for the clarification.
