Recibo, factura, cuenta

Buenos días a todos,

Estoy tratando de entender el uso debido de las tres palabras recibo, factura y cuenta:

Lo entiendo así:

Recibo de luz - electricity bill
Factura de agua - water bill


Cuenta - algo que se paga en un restaurante o establecimiento semejante.

Pero se puede decir cuenta de luz, por ejemplo?

Alguién puede aclarar esto para mí?

Thank you. I thought "fractura" means "receipt". Maybe because "Rechnung" means both "receipt" and "bill".

Gracias, Poli, por haber contestado mi pregunta, pero esta mañana mismísima, leí un artículo de un diario sobre previstas subidas en el precio de electricidad, en el cual la expresión recibo de luz fue mencionada varias veces.

Well, Premium mentioned that in Viennese German receipt and bill are the same word, so I suppose in Spanish it can be that way too, but in Spanish it's a very imprecise usage. Generally revibo is a simpler and very common way of saying comprobante.

@Regalsun: Creo que tu intuición es correcta. Yo sólo agregaría lo siguiente:

Pueden ser sinónimos cuando se trata de servicios que se pagan regularmente como luz, teléfono, gas, agua, etc. En este sentido, todos son documentos que muestran la cantidad y el detalle de lo que debes pagar por esos servicios.

Pero se distinguen cuando se trata otra clase de servicios o de bienes:

- Recibo: El documento que te dan cuando realizas un pago, como prueba de que ya pagaste. Por eso Poli usó como sinónimo también "comprobante". (Una consulta médica, un pago parcial de un bien o servicio, un permiso, ...)

- Factura: Es un recibo que tiene valor fiscal; es decir, puedes incluirlo en tus declaraciones de impuestos.

- Cuenta: No es oficial, no siempre está impresa y sólo tiene como fin mostrar la cantidad que debes pagar por una compra; por ejemplo, en un restaurante, en una tienda...
