Question Los comparativos y los superlativos

this is just for Spanish learners' reference. hope you understand.
got info from my textbook

Los comparativos

Más y menos

Me gustan los programas deportivos pero me gustan más los programas musicales.

¿Te gustan las telenovelas? Sí, más o menos.
  • We also use más + adj. + que and menos + adj. + que to make comparisons. The adjectives agree with the nouns they refer to.
Los dibujos animados son más tontos que las comedias.
Esta telenovela es menos divertida que la otra.
  • The adjectives bueno, -a and malo, -a have irregular comparative forms:

ADJECTIVO COMPARATIVO
bueno, -a mejor (que)
malo, -a peor (que)

  • Hopefully you've heard of the expression el/la hermano(a) mayor/menor. When we compare people, mayor and menor always refer to age (older and younger). To refer size (bigger and smaller), we use más grande and más pequeño.
Alberto es mayor que Juan, pero Juan es más grande.
  • Mejor, peor, mayor, and menor have plural forms ending in -es. However, they don't have a different feminine form.
Las hermanas de Roberto son menores que las de Víctor.
  • Mejor ("better") is also the comparative form of bien ("well"), and peor ("worse") is also the comparative form of mal ("badly"). When referring to verbs, mejor and peor have only one form.
Esteban y Sara son mejores que David y Lupe en tenis. (We are comparing Esteban y Sara to David y Lupe as players.)

but: Esteban y Sara juegan mejor que David y Lupe. (We are referring to how they play.)

Los superlativos
  • To say that someone or something is "the most" of a group, we use the definite article + (noun) + más + adj.
Para mí, Los tres perezosos es el programa más divertido.
  • To say that someone or something is "the best" or "the worst", we use el/la mejor and el/la peor.
Pienso que Tom Hanks es el mejor actor.

  • When we say that someone or something is "the most" or "the best, or "the worst" in a group or category, we use de to refer to that group or category.
Para mí, Un día de terror es la peor película de todas. Mis amigos los perrors es el programa más divertido de la televisión.
