Perfunctory question
I want to ask someone a question as to whether he would mind doing something, but I fear he might out of courtesy and politeness say 'don't mind' even when he really minds, how should I phrase the sentene? Can I say this?
-This is not a perfunctory/routine/idle question. If you really mind, you can close the window. I can sleep with the window shut. |
