I would definitely say "I eat the food..."
Ex's: I eat the food that my mother makes. It's always delicious. I eat the food at that Mexican restaurant on Commerce Street, but I do not eat the food at the other place by the Mall because I think they have rats. Is that what we're talking about?

Really that is understanding.
I ate the food in Chinese restaurant with my brother. I like the phrase.
