"Fue a dar" y "vueltas dar"

estoy tratando entender estas frases:

el carro volco y hasta el fondo fué a dar.
Al vueltas dar yo me salí

en inglés:

The car overturned and went to the bottom
when it overturned I got out

¿que significan EXACTAMENTE "fué a dar" y "al vueltas dar"?
