Hola
Como se dice ... Our children's and grandchildren's quality of life of depends on it. (It = looking after/caring for the environment) La cualidad de vida de nuestros hijos y nietos lo depende de esto. ????? Gracias!

"Esto" es correcto. También puede funcionar "eso" o "ello".
"Esto", sin embargo, enfatiza la importancia de cuidar el medio ambiente, porque se siente más próximo, más cercano al que habla.

"Our children's and grandchildren's quality of life of depends on it."
I would translate it as: "La calidad de vida de nuestros hijos y nietos depende de eso." I did it that way because I'm guessing that "it" refers to "that." And it sounds better than saying "...depende de esto," which reads "this." I hope that helps!

I agree with the above, but check the whole context... as it could be better to say what this "eso" "esto" or "ello" actually means... (el medio ambiente)? (de que cuidemos del medio ambiente)?
In other words, depending on the whole flow of the text, it may be advisable to say "La calidad de vida de nuestros hijos y nietos depende del cuidado del medio ambiente". "La calidad de vida de nuestros hijos y nietos depende de ese cuidado del medio ambiente al que me he referido". "La calidad de vida de nuestros hijos y nietos depende de que cuidemos el medio ambiente".
