Gerundio vs presente progresivo

Gerundio vs presente progresivo

¿Que haciendo usted?
¿Que hace usted?
¿Que haces?


He leído que en español el gerundio, o presente progresivo, no se utiliza tanto como en inglés. "¿Qué estás haciendo?" parece más natural que "¿Qué hace usted?" pero ambos significan "What are you doing?" Creo.



Para mí el gerundio se siente más cómodo. ¿Puedo usarlo sin sonar como un gringo que está tratando de hablar español o debería usar sólo el formulario "que hace usted" hasta que esté un poco más avanzado?

Aunque es más común decir "¿qué hace(s)?", la pregunta con el gerundio es correcta y natural: "¿qué está haciendo (usted)?"/"¿qué estás haciendo?"
Puede usarla sin problema.

Does qué estás haciendo sound more prying to you? To me it sounds almost like something a parent may say to misbehaving child when just plain qué haces will only sound that way when a special tone is used.

It depends on the tone. Context and intonation change the meaning.
