This is a discussion thread for the Daily Spanish Word for December 11, 2008
cucharada - feminine noun (la) - spoonful. Look up cucharada in the dictionary Agrega una cucharada copeteada de chocolate en polvo a una taza de leche caliente y tendrás una rica bebida. Add a heaping spoonful of powdered chocolate to a cup of hot milk and you'll have a tasty drink.

I would define una cucharada de as a tablespoon full of rather than a spoonful of.
¿Estoy en lo correcto?

Sí, estás en lo correcto, pero... depende del contexto. If it's in a recipe, or if by context you are talking about precise cooking measurements, then yes, cucharada = tablespoon and cucharadita = teaspoon. But a second meaning of cucharada is simply spoonful.
cucharada = spoonful, tablespoon una cucharada de = a tablespoon of, a spoonful of
