IS IT COrrect to say " Better alone than in bad company ? Or is that just a copy-cat?

It's better to be alone than in bad company.
It's better to be alone than with someone who will hurt you. These are good translations, but in English it is not a set phrase like it is in Spanish. @hermit You're judged by the company you keep = Dime con quien andas y te diré quien eres.
