Nada sucede si no participas.

Does "apostar también implica renuncias" imply you can lose what you bet/your bet maybe in vain?

Muchas gracias de antemano.

This, of course, is subject to opinion, but renuncias implies knowing when to leave the proverbial table. In other words, knowing to quit while you are ahead of the game.

Your betting may turn to giving up (abandoning your ambition because you took on too much or the risk turned out to be too much), is how I would understand this, but one never knows what she had in mind when she penned it.

"Renuncias" is a noun here. It's something you have to give up, but in this context, not necessarily the bet itself.
If you want to bet, you will have to keep in mind that you might have to decide how much you value what you're betting, and if you're willing to take the risk to lose something. If you're going to change your job, you might want to ponder first that a new job with a higher pay might cost you time away from your family or higher stress, for example.
