"Rastacueros"
Can anyone tell me the meaning of "rastacueros," which I cannot find in any dictionary? It was used in a sentence today in the newspaper, Mural (Guadalajara, Mexico), as follows:
"Pero huía del lujo y de la ostentación, que –decía- eran cosa de rastacueros." |

Re: "Rastacueros"
Quote:
By the Way is not Official Composed Word, so if we split it we will have Rasta and cuero. Cuero means "Leather", "Skin", but rasta is not a recognized word, can be "Raspa" from the verbe "Raspar" which means "To Skim", "To Scrape","To Smooth". So, Maybe the intention was to say "RASPA CUEROS" instead of "RASTACUEROS"

Re: "Rastacueros"
Rastacueros seems to be a legitimate term, although I hadn't heard it before today. I've found a few examples of usage. The second-to-last quote provides a bit of a definition. As a side note, "rastas" means dreadlocks (in Mexico).

Re: "Rastacueros"
I think the next-to-last quote is excellent and fits with the context of the article I was reading. Muchas gracias por su ayuda con esta palabra "nueva."
[As another side-note, I haven't seen any "rastas" (Rastafarians)around this area.] |

Re: "Rastacueros"
Yes, rastas are usually found over nearer to the Carribean.
