mosca, mosco and philosophy.
I was getting philosophical with somefriends today, and the question was. If mosca is fly and mosco/mosquito is mosquito, what words do you use to talk about a male fly or a female mosquito? Any thoughts?

Mosca: fly
mosquito: mosquito mosco: never heard is Spain. It's for Mexico I think male fly: mosca macho female fly: mosca hembra male mosquito: mosquito macho female mosquito: mosquito hembra Usually gender it's not a problem when speaking about them. Or are you so well eye-gifted? |

The confusion comes from the fact that English has the word "macho", which came from Spanish, but it has a slightly different meaning. It means more like "manly", "virile" (varonil).
