The reunion was really/very fun. There were all kinds of food and music. Everyone was talking, dancing, and having a lot of fun until it started to rain and everything was/got ruined.

The reunion was really fun until it started to rain

The reunion was really fun until it started to rain

La reunión fue/estuvo muy divertida. Había toda clase de comida y (de) música. Todos hablaron, bailaron y se divertieron mucho.=The reunion was really fun. There were all kinds of food and music. Everyone talked, danced, and had a lot of fun.

Muchas gracias

But I would lean toward saying:

I would definitely say the option of "la reunión estaba siendo muy divertida" sounds wrong. My $0.02

Both are correct. And both acitions (the one held at the party) can be interrupted by a pretérito indefinido.
Second one of these phrases can be followed by hasta que or by cuando.

Es absolutamente correcta. ¿Dónde ves la incorrección?

Alfonso,
