Aventar

I have heard this word used, and I think it can mean the throw, but I do not see this definition in dictionaries. Am I wrong in my interpretation?

"Aventar" means to throw, when you propel something through the air or make it fall.

But as far as I know, there is no noun derived from it, so we use specific words, depending on the context.
