Note: "suspender el curso" has two possible meanings: - You don't pass the course - The course wass cancelled/suspended Saludos |

-If you don't pass the course/class it can be taken again. (formal) -If you don't pass a class/course you can take it again. There is no formal or familiar as it is a statement in general. The word "se" does not denote formal in this sense although it might in other sentences. For example: Tómese unas vacaciones! The letters "se" would generally be attached to a verb and it would denote formality. In essence what the sentence is saying is: Tome usted unas vacaciones! Have I confused you more or did this make sense? Eliana |

Hola Elaina
I will use "repetir" because usually I don't say "volver a tomar"· I was answering two different questions. Quote:
Then I answered the second question Quote:
So when I ask a friend, I will say ¿Si no apruebas el curso se puede repetir? or ¿Si no apruebas el curso lo puedes repetir? When I speak to a teacher, I will say ¿En caso de suspender se puede repetir? or ¿es posible repetir si no se aprueba el curso? or ¿es posible repetir si se suspende el curso? So it has nothing to do with the first part. your question Quote:
greetings To gramatica. I don't understand your question |

You can use "tú" both times ¿Si (tú) no apruebas el curso (tú) lo puedes repetir? or a general sentence. In the first part you're refering to the "curso" EJ Si (tú) no participas en la carrera, (tú) no la puedes ganar Si no participas en la carrera no se puede ganarla (general) Tomisimo is better with this things Last edited by sosia; July 23, 2007 at 12:15 AM. |

A small correction: Tomisimo is better with this things =Tomisimo is better with these (types of) things Esta cosa=this thing estas cosas=these things Saludos

Are both OK and general meaning.
Thanks for the correction |
