Quitarse la carreta

I think it means to lose reason, but I'm not sure. Is the phrase familiar to you?

This is probably "quitarse la careta" (only one "r"). It means to take your mask off; you are finally showing yourself as you really are, and not being hypocritical anymore.

quitarse la careta = stop feigning / show one's true colours / reveal one's true concealed intentions
