Future perfect subjunctive?

Hola a todos!

In my class we are working on future perfect. A student asked an interesting question regarding subjunctive in this context. Can you tell me if subjunctive would be required and if so...would it be past subjunctive even if we're referring to a future event?

Betsy

my guess is that hubieren empezado would be needed, given that you always need the subjunctive after esperar if it is to mean to hope..

(future perfect subjunctive)

It makes no sense.

That is better, and extremely unusual.

Both present perfect subjunctive and future perfect imply conjecture here. But they are different: the first one express hope (it might happen, it might not); the second one, expectation (it will surprise me it won't)
