Cuando uno usa la palabra "cleanse" uno se refiere a una "limpia" como cuando uno va con el curandero para que le hagan una limpia. Por eso Chileno preguntó si necesitabas un exorcista...... para hacerte una limpia.

Cuando uno limpia la casa estas "house cleaning".
Cuando uno limpia los zapatos para entrar a casa estas "wiping your shoes".
Cuando uno limpia los cristales de la ventana estas "window washing".
Hay mas usos pero solo uso estos para ilustrar la diferencia.

Asi que la palabra "cleaning" tiene muchos usos ......

Pero "cleanse" también se utiliza en referencia al maquillaje, ¿no? No sé mucho del tema, pero estoy seguro de haber oído la palabra en alguna publicidad.

But this is just advertising hype, surely? - you cleanse the pores of your skin as a superlative, as if clean were not sufficient. You would never say "I'm going to cleanse my car"

I don't know. It might be that to "clean" skin is to remove dirt and to "cleanse" it is to remove foundation (or acne). I haven't paid enough attention to the adverts to know what "cleanse" connotes in that context.

I certainly wouldn't cleanse a car, but my point was that "cleanse" doesn't necessarily mean "exorcise".
