Reality bites

 

An idiom is an expression whose meaning is not readily apparent based on the individual words in the expression. This forum is dedicated to discussing idioms and other sayings.

En partes de Sudamérica no usan la palabra estado sino departamento. Sé que se usa esa palabra en el Perú y Colombia. (por ejemplo el departamento de Bolívar en Colombia y departamente de La Libertad en Perú.) No sé si departmento es la palabra que se usa en Venezuela, Argentina o Chile.

It's interesting to know that departments in Mexico translate to apartments in the U.S.
