I've never heard that saying before. Does no tengo abuela mean that there's no one to talk good about me, so I have to do it?

I cannot know if it's something we only say in Spain. But here is quite common. Of course, one never says that about themselves, but about another person. You hear somebody talking about how great, or nice, or handsome they are, and you tactfully, in a low voice, say to someone else: éste no tiene abuela.
