This is a discussion thread for the Daily Spanish Word for March 10, 2009
lado - masculine noun (el) - side. Look up lado in the dictionary Vamos a cruzar al otro lado del río para acostarnos en la sombra. Let's cross over to the other side of the river to lie down in the shade.

Lado is always used as a noun. You recognize it from prepositional phrases, where it was the object of the preposition.
al lado de = to the side of (next to) |
