To put something away

What is the best translation for putting something away?

Poner en su sition? Guardarlo?

This is the sentence that I'd like to translate please:

I put my guitar away and said I would not play until he stopped talking to me.

Puse mi guitarra en su sitio y dije que no volvería tocarla hasta que dejara de hablarme.

In this sense, 'guardar algo'.

Guardé la guitarra y le dije que no volvería a tocarla hasta que (él/ella/usted) dejara de hablarme.

Thanks heaps, so do I need the le in there even though I'm not saying it 'to anyone' - just saying?

Actually what is the dealio with that? I'm sure sometimes I see decir without the indirect object pronoun.

Decir doesn't always take an indirect object, no.
Digo la verdad.

That's what I felt the sentence needed according to the interpretation I had in mind at the time.
