Ser duro de mollera

Ser duro de mollera

Hola,

Tengo una duda sobre el significado de la expresion “ser duro de mollera”. ¿Significa que alguien es poco inteligente – que no las coge al vuelo – o que es muy cabezota / testarudo, etc.?

¿Se usa solamente en España o en América Latina también?

En principio, yo creo que "ser poco inteligente" es correcto, aunque no sé si es completamente sinónimo de la expresión que se usa en México: "tener la cabeza dura", que a veces también se usa para decir que alguien no sólo es tonto o lento, sino testarudo.
