Erm, I have a bee in my bonnet (UK expression = a bit of an obsession!) - nothing personal - everyone this side of the pond is guilty too, about attendees. I maintain that ees are the object of the verb and ers the subject of it! (I must be a type "A").

If you take two clearer examples a payer is one who pays while the payee has payment made to him, and an employer employs an employee. so therefore I think attenders is more correct. Please don't be offended, I'm a pedant - I shout at respected BBC news-readers on the TV too!
