Me gustó más v. Más me gustó

Do these expression have the same meaning or is there a difference?

I assume there is a difference, but I cannot place it.

Me gustó más = I enjoyed it the most.

Más me gustó
= I liked it the most

Thank in advance.

Both mean 'I liked it more/better'.
In both cases, 'más' is an adverb and it can go in either position.

The already-established subject is being compared to something we have no context for. We see only the verb, the indirect object and the adverb. (The English translation needs 'it' to complete the idea.)

To form the superlative 'most', you need an article - 'el más' or 'la más', followed by the noun (unless it's already established), like 'Me gustó la más la película de ayer'.

I personally go for how it sounds when spoken, but agree it can be either way as Rusty says.
Look at the great number of Más vale... and Vale más... proverbs available and see how they sound together with the verb or adjective that follows.
