I thought "off my own bat" too, but that means, "without being ask to", although it gives a similar idea, right?
I guess that would not work in the example, but something like "make up" or "come up with" a phrase would also be valid. -And to end up, you are going to come up with a sentence of you own -And to end up, you are going to come up with a sentence invented by you. Would the second translation be valid as well?
