El verbo dar
El verbo dar Example: --¿Qué le das a Diego por su cumpleaños? --Le doy a Diego una corbata. ¿Y Eva? --Eva va a darle un reloj pulsera. 1. --¿Qué les dan Uds. a las gemelas? --Les damos a las gemelas unas camisas. ¿Y tú? --Yo voy a darles unos suerteres. 2. --¿Qué les das a Sergio y Sonia? --Les doy a Sergio y Sonia un perro. ¿Y Gerardo? --Gerardo va a darles un gato. 3. --¿Qué le damos a Luz? --Le dan a Luz unos aretes. ¿Y tú? --Yo voy a darle un libro. 4. --¿Qué les da a sus padres? --Les da a sus padres un equipo de sonido. ¿Y Uds.? --Nosotros vamos a darles una videocasetera. This one is really hard!!!!! Example: --¿Da Ud. un regalo a su hermana por su cumpleaños? (nunca) --Nunca le doy un regalo a mi hermana. 1. --¿Dan Uds. un callor a su amiga? (nada) --Nosotros damos nada a su amgia. 2. --¿Da Javier un sombrero a tu primo? (nadie) --Javier da un sombrero a nadie. 3. --¿Das tú los aretes a tu hermana? (nada) --Yo doy nada a tu hermana. 4. --¿Dan tus padres un regalo a tu novia? (nunca) --Nunca les dan un regalo a mi novia. 5. --¿Da Andrés un regalo a Luis? (nunca) --Nunca le da un regalo a Luis. 6. --¿Dan tus amigos un regalo hecho a mano a José? (nadie) --Mis amigos dan un regalo hecho a mano a nadie. 7. --¿Doy yo una corbata a Ignacio? (nada) --Tú das nada a Ignacio. Last edited by Jessica; April 21, 2009 at 07:33 PM. |

Quote:
1. Nosotros no le damos nada (a su amiga). Now take a look at that sentence. It incorporates the examples in part one (with dar, you must include the "le" for the indirect object). Therefore, you cannot say "Nosotros no damos nada a su amiga." It must be, Nosotros no le damos nada (a su amiga) *Also, look at the parenthesis. "A su amiga" is in parenthesis because it is not really needed; the le all ready explains who is receiving the object. You can, however, include "a su amiga" as a clarification of who you are giving it to (Because "le" could mean you're giving it to a man, a woman, or even Usted). *Were still on this first question...Remember your previous exercise yesterday (I think it was yesterday). Spanish uses double negatives, unlike English (at least that's what's considered "grammatical"---well it's actually considered prescriptive grammar), but that's another subject haha. -You must say: No le damos nada. --Realize the double negation. That should get you a good start, and explain your other errors in part 2 as well. As for part 1, look at question 3. ¿Qué le damos a Luz? Damos is conjugated in what form? So _____ is giving the ____ to Luz. Wow that was a mouthful, well a handful. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Those exercises really encompass a lot though Also for question 1, part 1: Sweater, in Spanish, carries an accent. It's translated to "suéter." So how would you write that in plural form?
