To be excited

Hi all,

I am getting ready for a semester abroad in Spain and want to email my host-mom. What would be the correct way to say "i am excited" as in "i am excited to meet you"?
A classmate of mine accidentally wrote an email to her host family and told them all how "excited"' she was... but.... the word she used apparently meant something inappropriate!.. and I want to make sure I don't make that mistake

Thanks!!!
