The Eastern Roman Empire lasted all the way to 1453! Was it Greek or Roman though?!

Questions about culture and cultural differences between countries and languages.

If you have a basic knowkedge of Latin, learning French, Italian, Romanian, Portuguese etc. is much more easier than if you haven't. Even if you don't study those languages you will be able to make a sensible guess if you ever have to understand people who speak them. If you are interested in the Middle Age History of Europe you will not be able to make any investigation if you don't know Latin. If you are interested in the Law History you will have to know Latin to understand the Roman and the Medieval Laws. If you want to make an research about the Renaissance you probably will have to read many documents in Latin...

Very true. Recently a Romanian worker working in our house was trying to explain something, and we could understand what he meant because of the Latin words he used.
