"las pocas pero brillantes mujeres" dijo M.J. Es un ejemplo de auto- (es un juego de palabras en lugar de auto-pilota escribí auto-pelota)

Pues yo lo entendía mejor antes de la explicación. Pero vamos que la autopelota soy yo. Pero no pillo el juego de palabras, Poli.

I know I am way late on this, but couldn't this phrase possibly be translated as "a catch 22" or "damned if you do, damned if you don't." This is what came to my mind when reading Rusty's explanation at the beginning of the post.

It's a catch-22 situation.
= Es la pescadilla que se muerde la cola = Es un círculo vicioso You're damned if you do, damned if you don't. = Hagas lo que hagas, estás fastidiado (and other possibilities). = Hagas lo que hagas te van a criticar igual. Last edited by Rusty; November 07, 2008 at 03:32 AM. |

It's not catch 22. What it is is a funny way of saying things that seem good aren't always so. A prince can turn into a frog, or even sometimes stinky circumstances accompany a good thing (after all flowers need manure to flourish). It's a worldly phrase.
