Porque Emilio Botín es el sujeto:

E. B. ha elegido mal día.

Si el sujeto fuera 'el día', sí sería como tú dices.

Ya sabes que el orden de nuestras frases es más flexible que el vuestro (cosa que a mí me complica la vida bastante ).

Quería decir el orden de las palabras dentro de la frase. Que a veces mi cabeza va demasiado rápida para mis dedos.
