Gastar Vs Gastarse

¿Hay alguna diferencia entre ‘gastar’ y ‘gastarse’?

Ejemplos:

“Mejor gastarse un poco de dinero en uno mismo, al menos un pinchito y una caña frente al mar, que acabar dándoselo a un psicólogo.”

“El primer grupo estudia todas las ofertas de última hora para ahorrar al máximo.
El segundo grupo sólo puede gastarse la mitad de lo que se gastaron el año pasado. El ultimo corresponde a los turistas que aún pueden permitirse ciertos lujos, como viajes largos.”
