Help Understanding Voy
I was looking at a song and it said, "Voy a bailar" DOes this mean I will dance or i will go dancing?

Is the "a" in "Voy a bailar" necessary for it to mean what Rusty said?

Yes, it is. The construction for expressing a future action with the verb "ir" is always:
ir + a + infinitive.

Just with "ir". Some verbs require their own prepositions.
