Convocar
Perdóname la ignorancia pero hay algunos usos de la palabra convocar.
Hoy oí alguen decir vamos a convocar una reunion. Me dio a entender que significa concertar una reunion. Quisiera saber si puede una convocar con este sentido en otros casos. Por ejemplo, se puede decir:¿ me puede convocar un taxi? Creo que no, pero quiero verificarlo. Gracias.

Correcto.... but more than concertar significa to call

you wouldn't concert a taxi, right?

"Convocar" no es perfecto sinónimo de llamar; sólo en el caso en el que una autoridad cita a alguien (como "to summon"). Se convoca a reuniones, a concursos, a elecciones...

Me parece que diríamos en todos los casos "llamar un taxi".

Nota al margen: "Concertar" implica ponerse de acuerdo con otros; es decir, negociar entre las partes que intervendrán en la reunión para hallar la fecha y la hora adecuadas para todos los participantes.
