Where did you rank
In high school, there is a system known as YUPAS, in which students have to rank their preferences of university programmes.
1. Oxford African Studies 2. Harvard Danish Literature 3. Cambridge Physics ... If at uni I want to ask a physics student at Cambridge 'where he ranked the Physics programme', how should I frame the question? Can I say these? 1. Where did you rank 'Cambridge Physics' on the programme list on YUPAS? 2. Where did you put 'Cambridge Physics' on the programme list on YUPAS? |

Both sentences are fine, but using the verb 'rank' would be my first choice.
Using 'place' would be my second choice and 'put', my third. |
