Dar el pego

Como se traduce dar el pego en las siguientes frases?
1)Cuando habla inglés da el pego durante los primeros 5 minutos.
2)Con esa indumentaria que lleva da el pego, quien diría que no tiene donde caerse muerto.

No, dar el pego es que lo que hace la persona lo hace bien y tu te lo crees, pero la persona que lo conoce es la que dice como da el pego. En la frase una por ejemplo si tu das el pego hablando durante cinco minutos es que lo haces impecable mientras te escuchan, pero luego metes la pata, pero has dado el pego y la gente se lo ha creido. Lo mismo con las ropas, das el pego porque la gente cree que tienes dinero, pero vas a casa y no tienes que comer, sin embargo lal gente cree que eres rico, por tu forma de vestir. Lo entendeis ahora?

I'm not Poli, but I'll give it a try.

Cuando habla inglés da el pego durante los primeros 5 minutos.
For the first five minutes he can really pull the wool over your eyes. It sounds like he speaks perfect English.

Con esa indumentaria que lleva da el pego, quien diría que no tiene donde caerse muerto.
He really fools you with the flashy clothes he wears. Who would know he doesn't have a plugged nickel in his pocket?

That politician is trying to pull one over on us. He says nice things, but he's got his hand in the till.

He's faking us out saying he's Carlos Slim's son, but he lives in a basement apartment in The Bronx.
