To hit?
Hey everyone, I'm working through my workbook and... I want to know which verb to use when I'm trying to say "to hit." In context, I'm going to be talking about someone hitting a piñata with a stick. I looked it up on this site's dictionary, but there are a LOT of words that mean "to hit." I'm looking at "bastonear," meaning "to hit with a stick" but after looking it up somewhere on some other websites I've come to the conclusion that it's more in the sense of "to cane" like punishing a small child.
edit: Would "golpear" work? I've always thought of "golpear" as bump/bruise/knock into (for injuries).. Last edited by me llamo todito; August 03, 2009 at 09:29 PM. |

I think golpear or pegar would be the most common verbs.

Also exist other way to say the same but of a way more sick at least in my country.
The word is Madrear. I don't know if exist an equivalent in English for this word, even though I don't believe it. I hope this can help you. To hit- golpear. I'll hit you because you don't pay me the money that I borrowed you three days ago. You can exchange the word hit for the another ones that I told you. You often will imagine as the word will be mixed with the other slang.
