It means shouting into a vacuum, i.e not heard.

In English, to fall on deaf ears.

To fall into a bottomless pit? To fall into the abyss?

Falling into a bottomless pit, an abyss, or a black hole is a metaphoric way to describe something that is lost and can't be found/retrieved.

Caer al vacío is translated to fall to one's death.
