Bien fregados

Bien fregados

Hola! En el nuevo cuento Monterroso hay la frase " si no le hubiera ayudado cuando estábamos bien fregados,todavía ? " Claro es un modismo . En el diccionario encontré variedades entre los países LA . Pues ,cuál sería más apropiado " pobres " o algo más ?Gracias

Fregado seems to indicate "fastidiado" i.e., in a terrible state, or in very bad way.

"Pobres" may be an option, as when you don't have money you are in a terrible state...

Economically speaking it, then you should to say poor.

But if you are speaking about some kind situation in that moment I would consider to say amolados.


Amolados other slang in my country.

Si no le hubiera ayudado cuando estábamos bien amolados.

@Katerina: "Pobres" es correcto. La mujer que habla en tu cuento recuerda su origen humilde, con una expresión coloquial que no corresponde a su nueva clase social, sino a la anterior.

Οk Voy a usar "pobres " pero con una palabra que significa "tiempos de pobreza, necesidad .." Pero el "todavía" se refiere al pasado ?

Supongo, en inglés sería como "still" - "when we were still going though a rough time"
