You have the translation correct.
There are other terms as well:
She has him tied to her apron strings.
He's henpecked by his wife.

Si digo tiene a sus alumnos bien metidos en cintura, quiero decir que les hace trabajar mucho, y que son disciplinados, en ese contexto como se diria?

Ah, al contestar tu otro hilo de "a su antojo" te he incluido lo del "little finger", que también puede funcionar (aunque con otras connotaciones o 'nuances') con esta expresión.

maneja al marido a su antojo = she can twist her husband around her little finger
